Sparnon

We are interested in hearing from any SPARNON descendants anywhere in the world.

The SPARNON family originated in CORNWALL, England, where they owned a copper mine. The first SPARNON on the family tree was an Abbot!

The branch of the family that we are researching moved from Cornwall to the North of England, following the mining, and finally to Kent during the depression. Other branches of the family went across the Severn to Wales, while still others emigrated.

We have a very large SPARNON family tree, researched by other members of the SPARNON family, going back to the 1300s. This tree shows many of the present day descendants of the family world-wide. Are there any more SPARNON descendants out there we don't know about?

If you have any information that might help, or you can connect to this family, please e-mail:

Purdy

We are also searching for descendants of the PURDY family, who emigrated to PENNSYLVANIA in the early 1900s.

We have letters and photographs sent to the family back home in N.E. England that show connections with the Westinghouse Electric Company, the Philadelphia Post Office and the Pennsylvania Railroad. We also have an address in North Braddock, Pa, and the name Thomas G MORROW. Does anybody recognise these names? Please e-mail us at bill@eastkent.freeuk.com.

Look here for copies of the letters and photos - can you identify this family?

Thanks to contacts in the USA, we have now made contact with a descendant of this family!

Other names of particular interest are:

BURGESS, ELLIS, JENNINGS & KNIGHT, in the Basingstoke area of HAMPSHIRE (UK) (yes, we do know there were hundreds of Knights!). Particularly, the areas around Dummer, Hartley Whintney and the Candovers, MITCHELL, in N.E. England, and Elizabeth BOYLE.
