We believe this to be a picture of Sarah PURDY, taken in the early part of the 1900s in North Braddock, Pa.

The letter below was written by Sarah to her cousin Joe (Joseph MITCHELL) in Co. Durham, England, in 1923 and 1930.

This letter was written by Margaret MORROW (nee PURDY) in 1928, also to Joseph MITCHELL.

My dear big sweetheart
   I received your overwelcome letter yesterday afternoon.
   Well old tootsie - wootsie I dont have very much time to write and still less

writing paper so you will have to be content with these few lines.
   Last night was the last of evening school, I received a diploma there were only three of us passed so you can imagine how big I feel if I had more paper I would tell you

about it, I was the only girl the other two were fellows.
   Tell Bella when I get a box of writing paper I will send her a letter.  I havent really had much time to write to anyone, but hope to have more time

in the future.
   Well dear old boyo give my love to all the family.
Dont think I am going to forget about you, (cause I aint)
   I do hope you can read this scribble but you know how it is when your in a hurry.  so long.
